Hutong Italian Bar Nina to Close This August

In a spate of bad news for lovers of bitter drinks made with Italian liquor and the small bites, meats, and cheeses served with them, hutong aperitivo bar Nina will be closing its doors on Aug 15 this year.

The small Beiluoguxiang establishment has wooed customers since it opened back in 2017 with the promise of nice Spritzes, lots of snacks, and a slew of Negroni options to choose from. It became a neighborhood favorite, as well as a fixture of Beijing's Italian expat community, with the bar's bright neon red "Nina" logo bathing the shop and the street outside in a Campari red.

Sadly, Nina’s days are numbered. We’ve learned from the owner that the bar will soon close for good come August. The reason cited had to do with property issues, with the landlord having decided against renewing the bar's lease.

Friends old and new bid farewell to Nina with a big party last night, but if you’d like to catch it before it’s gone, there’s still time: the official closure date for Nina is Aug 15. Best to get there and get some Spritzes and Negronis while they’re hot!

Plus, stay tuned for a more in depth look back at Nina, a proper farewell with new photos and more before the end of a bar we’ve covered, and have grown to adore, since its inception.
