Two Art Shows Featuring Intl. Works to See Soon

As if to match the vibrancy of the summer weather, two shows featuring the colorful works of two international artists are gracing Beijing at the tail end of July. Tickets are currently available for pre-sale, so snag some while you still can.

Lawrence Weiner: A Pursuit of Happiness ASAP

American artist Lawrence Weiner is considered to be one of the most influential figures behind conceptual art. His most famous works involve sentences and words that can be installed on walls, museum windows, manhole covers, gallery floors, and other locations. This latest exhibition at UCCA will feature text works dating from the 1960s to 2020s and marks Weiner’s first institutional show in China following an installation done for UCCA in 2007.

Lawrence Weiner: A Pursuit of Happiness ASAP, is happening from Jul 20 ‘til Oct 20 at UCCA in 798. Tickets are RMB 68 pre-sale and RMB 98 pre-sale for a double parent-child ticket. James Jean: Eternal Spiral IV

Blending a skill in illustration with elements of Chinese scroll paintings, Japanese woodblock prints, and Renaissance portraiture, James Jean utilizes all of these to create works that delve into the fantastical and magical. Born and raised in the Taiwan region, Jean studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York. He has collaborated with major fashion brands like Prada and has even been tapped to design movie posters for Mother!, The Shape of Water, and Blade Runner 2049.

Eternal Spiral IV - James Jean is happening from Jul 29 ‘til Nov 11 at Today Art Museum in Shuangjing. Tickets are RMB 78 for pre-sale or RMB 68 for early bird (valid from Jul 29-Sep 1), and can be purchased via this WeChat post.
