Change Up Your Yogurt Game with JOOMA Coconut Yogurt
I’ve tried plant-based dairy alternatives a few times throughout my life, but I could never see myself giving up the real deal for something else. Coconut “ice cream”? Too heavy on the coconut flavor. Nut milk? Not sure how you milk a nut.
My stance on that might just change, though, thanks to JOOMA. You might have seen JOOMA at a few of our previous events serving up almond yogurt, a quick cool me down for spicy food, a nice break from pizza and burgers. They’re continuing the commitment to plant-based dairy alternatives with their latest coconut yogurt offering.
We recently got the chance to try their new coconut varieties in the Beijinger offices and were impressed. The product arrived in sleek black packaging and a variety of new flavors: strawberry, kiwi-avocado, calamansi, and pure (a plain variety), each one is easy to open and equipped with their own little spoon.
The verdict in the office? Each one was better than the next, with kiwi-avocado – a little more bold – and strawberry – classic and mellow – being the favorites. The flavors all come naturally, direct from the fruits themselves, with a nice creamy lent by the use of coconut cream.
Not only does it taste good, but it’s packed with a ton of probiotics as well – 10 million live probiotics to be exact. While they have names that you’re not likely to remember or know how to pronounce, they’ve all got one thing in common: probiotics have been shown to improve gut flora, which help with digestion and overall gastrointestinal health.
Another nice feature of JOOMA coconut yogurt is their use of coconut cream. Sourced from Indonesian coconuts, the cream begins to form five hours from when the coconuts hit the ground. From there, they’re shipped to China, where the cream is used in the final product.
It’s a good source of healthy fats and is what gives the yogurt it’s creamy quality. Most other coconut yogurts on the market use coconut milk or artificial additives, which result in a lack of flavor and lack of benefits from the coconut itself. Plus, there’s more fat content to go around, with coconut cream bringing 20 percent fat or more to the table, whereas coconut milk brings 10 percent or less.
Besides the good taste and creaminess, the advantage is that this extra fat does not make you fat, because coconut cream brings along with it Medium-Chain Triglycerides (MCTs). These fatty acids have a number of positive health benefits, including promoting good weight management and increased energy.
