Capital Caff: V7 Caters to Coffee Connoisseurs, M+ Coffice is Summer’s Missed Arrival
Don't talk to me until I've read Capital Caff: Your guide to the latest in coffee happenings around Beijing.
V7 Coffee
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, Beiluoguxiang is quickly establishing itself as the coffee capital of, well, the capital. The latest café to join in on the fray is V7 Coffee, located less than a block from Chez Gérard and another of this year’s newest additions, JM Cafe.
V7 is pretty much everything you’ve come to expect from a modern coffee shop – sleek and minimal design, single-origin pour-overs from the likes of Yunnan and Kenya (RMB 58-68), coconut or oat milk lattes (RMB 38-48), and the ubiquitous americano (RMB 28) and dirty (RMB 38). They’ve also got a range of colorful desserts at RMB 48 each. Simply put, V7 is a coffee shop geared towards coffee aficionados.

M+ Coffice
M+ Coffice opened over the summer, but it slipped under our radar and is pretty easy to miss in general, as it’s tucked inside the same complex as Yue Space just off Beixinqiao. Nevertheless, it’s totally worth a visit. Billed as a "coffice," which we can only assume is an invitation to bring your laptop and get some work done, M+ Coffice is a gorgeous little space with downstairs seating as well as a terrace.
"But winter is coming!" you exclaim, "terraces will be pleasant no more!" Fear not, for there is an indoor area of the terrace with some pretty comfortable couches. The menu at M+ Coffice includes single-origin brews from Honduras (RMB 45), Ethiopia (RMB 38), and Indonesia (RMB 38) alongside a full espresso menu. There are also unique decaf options such as a matcha latte and a red velvet latte (RMB 35 each). Oh, and the latte art (pictured at top) is particularly charming too.

Mobis Cafe
Located in the ever-hip 22 Art Street, Mobis Cafe is something of a head-scratcher. Admittedly, we’re yet to venture inside, however, when we moseyed past it last weekend, we decided to do a little Dianping research. What we found was interesting, to say the least.
Mobis Cafe is a two-story shop, and the bottom floor is not unlike what you’d find at any other café. Venture upstairs, however, and things take a turn for the “huh?” Basically, Mobis is a new script kill café, where you and your friends can enjoy some immersive role-playing games in private, themed areas, including a horror-ish space, a cartography room, a sunken lounge, and another horror-ish something or other.
Frankly, we're yet to fully explore the script kill world but we are certainly intrigued. So long story short, if you’re strolling around 22 Art Street and need a little pick me up by way of coffee or immersive adventure, Mobis Cafe is there to serve.
