Busy Holiday: Contemporary Artists Explore Love at Today Art Museum

In Busy Holiday, we're giving you a few things to try over the October Break.

What is love? Baby, don't hurt me – because if you do, I won't tell you about the latest exciting exhibit to hit Today Art Museum! 

From now until Oct 6, the museum is holding a "Sensory Garden" in an attempt to unwrap what this strange, passionate emotion called love really is, through the help of our senses. 

A number of contemporary artists, both local and foreign, have gathered their works for the exhibit, and there will also be special screenings exploring the works of Fridha Kahlo, Louise Bourgeois, and others.

Check out a few of the works presented below:

Exploring the split between the ideal and the real, Chen Wei's Wishing Well features split sculptures and an uninterupted performance of dropping coins and other sensory effects

Liu Jiayu's Glowworm Garden series uses AI to generate terrain and landforms in a way that asks questions about how the distance between people forms relationships, and sometimes love

I Always Distrust by Chengran is a multi-screen video instiallation that digs into the confusion of digital networks

In Daata Edition, artist Tracey Emin reads from her notebooks while undulating sounds communicate a fullness of emotion

Cao Yu's Mount Fuji is a huge revolving object whose metallic surface rises from the ground and intimidates onlookers

"We" by Ma Qiusha is a looping video that explores the coexistance of men and women

Agnès Varda (1928-2019) was a French photographer and film director. Her work Bord de Mer is a video installation that depicts three different dimensions of time-past, eternal, and present.
