Xitucheng Station Closes for Renovations, Qianmen Station to Follow
Starting from Sep 20 until Jan 11, 2022, Line 10’s Xitucheng Station will be closed for the renovation of four exits and the construction of a transfer station connecting Line 10 to the Changping Line, Beijing Evening News reports.
Station staff are urging passengers who need to take the subway from Xitucheng to instead take buses 304, 386 or 671 from Xuezhi Qiao Bus Station (located outside Xitucheng Exit A) westbound for one stop and get on Line 10 from Zhichun Road Station. Or, alternatively, passengers can walk 300 meters from Xitucheng Exit C and take buses 21, 601 or 653 eastbound for one stop to Line 10’s Mudanyuan Station.
The newspaper also reports that Qianmen Station on Line 2 will be closed from Oct 8 to Dec 4 in order to allow for the completion of the final section of Line 8, which will have a transfer option at Qianmen.
So with the Xitucheng connection to the Changping Line slated to open early next year, does this mean the same for the Qianmen Line 2 to Line 8 transfer? Not quite. The Beijing Construction Ministry has said due to a lag in integration construction, the station wouldn’t meet opening safety conditions by year’s end.
For those of us waiting for an easy connection between the National Art Museum and Qianmen (with a connecting stop at Wangfujing to boot), the wait will be a little longer.
