Messy Burger is a Humble but Impressive New Burger Counter

Here at the Beijinger, we do our best to keep you informed of the latest twists and turns in the beefed-up world of Beijing burgers. One of the latest additions landed in the 5L Hotel food court in Guomao late last year – a bit too late to compete in the 2020 Burger Cup, but they may just be a contender for 2021's competition.

Meet Messy Burger. It may be a humble counter in a food court, but the grill is cooking up the real deal. Their signature sandwich is a chicken pineapple burger, but in our book, it’s all about the beef, so we got our hands around this restaurant’s other featured burger, the Black Truffle with Cheese. At RMB 54, it’s a bargain compared to some other truffle burgers we’ve seen around, but they haven’t skimped on the quality.

As you can see, the Angus beef comes topped with cheddar cheese and ample mushrooms, and of course... plenty of truffle sauce, effectively packing this burger with flavor.

The fries don’t disappoint either – they’re essentially a crispier version of a McDonald’s fry, though with less salt. To pair, Messy Burger also has its very own craft beer! We had a sip of the stout for... ahem... quality testing and were pleasantly surprised with its subtle chocolaty taste. Also on tap, you’ll find a Mango German Wheat, an IPA, and a German wheat beer. And if you find yourself enjoying them, you can even grab a jug to go.
