Beijing's Two CBA Teams Qualify for the Playoffs, Only One (or Neither) Will Emerge Champions

The CBA has successfully completed its COVID-interrupted season and is heading into the playoffs, with both Beijing teams having made the cut.

Despite the ongoing coronavirus, the CBA was able to move ahead with their regular season which ended last week. Now, the playoffs are set to begin tonight in Qingdao. Beijing won't enter the fray until tomorrow, Aug 1, when the Royal Fighters faceoff against Jilin's Northeast Tigers. The first Ducks game, however, is yet to be announced.

If you're hungry for a little healthy hoop-based competition, Youku will be streaming the games here, or you can search cba直播 for more information. Although the CBA hasn't reached too much popularity in the West, it's increasingly drawing on big names such as head coach of the Royal Fighters, Stephon Marbury, and Jeremy Lin of the Ducks, who rose to prominence during a knockout 2011-2012 season with the New York Knicks.

The Beijing Royal Fighters held onto their number seven rank in the regular season after beating the Bayi Rockets 106-93 last Sunday, clinching a spot in the playoffs for the first time since joining the CBA in 2016.

Meanwhile, hometown rivals the Beijing Ducks enter the post-season ranked fourth, after beating the Royal Fighters 102-86 in their last game of the regular season on Jul 25.
