5 Things to Taste, Smell, Touch, Hear, and See, Apr 12-14
Beijing can be an overstimulating place to live, to say the least. Let’s be real: sometimes even our sixth sense (the one that tells you when that stick of chuan'r will make you sick for the next two days) gets a decent workout. With such a wide variety of events, restaurants, and gigs to attend, we suggest bathing each of your five senses in one, if not all, of the nourishing goings-on below.

There'll also be live DJs to keep you moving until the wee hours. Free. 7pm-late. Zarah

Apr 13: Record Store Day with Vice
Nobody needs an excuse to buy things ("treat yo' self, fool!"), but even if you do, we'll give you one, especially if you're a music buff. Among the many other events for the 12th annual Record Store day, Gulou-based record store Floso has teamed up with Vice for a 3,000-vinyl-deep record market, live DJs, and other shellac-centric fun at Vice China's Beijing offices. 1-7pm. Free. Vice Offices (by Beer Mania)

Apr 12: Hotel Balkan at Modernista
Hyper-energetic, fun, and full of complex rhythms, Balkan music is perfect for two things: dancing and drinking. Indeed, this shamelessly loud, multi-instrumental group are sure to shake things up at Modernista and get the weekend off to a rollicking start. Free. 10pm. Modernista
