5 Things to Taste, Smell, Touch, Hear, and See, Feb 23-24
Beijing can be an overstimulating place to live, to say the least. Let’s be real: sometimes even our sixth sense (the one that tells you when that stick of chuan'r will make you sick for the next two days) gets a decent workout. With such a wide variety of events, restaurants, and gigs to attend, we suggest bathing each of your five senses in one, if not all, of the nourishing goings-on below.

Feb 24: Tea For Two Class
There are more places to enjoy afternoon tea in Beijing than you can shake a cucumber sandwich at, but if you think you can do better yourself, roll up your sleeves and head to this workshop. This Sunday, Pauline's Cuisine will take budding cooks on a comprehensive and delicious mission on how to make scones, tea sandwiches, and anything else that you might need should the Duchess of Cambridge pops by unannounced. 10am-1pm. Feb 24: Art Battle at Yue Space
Wordsmith collective Spittoon expands its purview even further (who knew that was even possible?!) on Sunday, hosting the first Art Battle in Beijing. The structure is simple and fierce: the artists compete to do the best live painting they can in three 20-minute rounds. At the end of each, the audience votes who they want to see progress to the next round until there's but one person standing. There'll also be live music and DJs to add a little bass to the furious sound of brushstrokes. Let the best artist win! 2-6pm. RMB 100, RMB 60 (advance). Yue Space
