Pop Diva Grimes Needs You to Plan Her Beijing Travel Itinerary

What’s a dream pop diva to do during an unexpected trip to China? That’s the peculiar conundrum that Grimes asked her more than 800 thousand Twitter followers to assist with earlier this week.

The 30-year-old Vancouver-born musician made waves in 2012 with her sophomore album Visions. Numerous music magazines ranked that LP on their year-end “Best Of” lists, leaving Beijing music buffs eager for her debut performance in the Chinese capital in 2013.

Ahead of that show she told the Beijinger about her love of Taylor Swift, how candles are essential to her writing process, and more before all but blowing the roof off Mao Livehouse.

Is she back in China to perform again? Unlikely, unless her tweet about not meaning to come was a joke (and word of such a show should’ve surely leaked by now). Regardless, during her current jaunt in the ‘Jing, many of Grimes' Twitter followers made arts and culture itinerary recommendations, from 798 Art District to burgeoning nightclub Zhao Dai. Others had more clever retorts, suggesting she get a toothbrush pronto and visit 7-11. Best of all: the user who asked if Grimes' former flame Elon Musk had teleported her to the Middle Kingdom during his downtime from running Tesla, spearheading zany high-tech projects, and picking fights with rescue divers.

If you have a favorite hutong haunt, authentic Beijing street eat, music venue or other recommendation for Grimes, tweet her @Grimezsz. And you ’d better make it quick before she squanders all of her China visit in a jet-lagged literary fever dream:
