Rock Around the Clock With This Fully Stacked Schedule of Burger Fest Performers, Jun 16-17
Beijingers keen to rock around the clock should set their watches because it's almost time for this year's Beijing Burger Fest. The Jun 16-17 rock 'n' roll themed grilled beef extravaganza will, of course, be a treat for your tastebuds, seeing as there'll be at least 40 burger slinging vendors packed into Galaxy Soho for the event (more info on that here). But it'll also be a feast for your ears, thanks to the chock-a-block lineup of headbang-worthy, hip-shake-inspiring musicians and entertainers set to take to the Burger Fest stage to get you moving and help you work up an appetite, from local up-and-comers and seasoned vets of Beijing's music scene to visiting talent like acclaimed jazz rockers A Love Electric (pictured above).
Don't forget to pick up some presale tickets ASAP before the event to skip the long lineups. Aside from stage performers, you can also keep yourself entertained with arcade dancing machines and fun photo props on site, while parents and kids can enjoy the fun music floor piano.
To entice your cravings, here's a rundown of all the talent slated to rock your world at this year's Burger Fest:
This globe-trotting trio of jazz-rock up and comers have earned praise from the likes of NPR, which called them a "fascinating" act in one enthused review. They play 130 shows on average annually, varying from New York's Winter Jazzfest to Vive Latino in Mexico City and everything in between.
This Beijing based trio plays sizzling hot funk, blues, and rock with the ease of seasoned pros. Chalk that up to their persistent gigging at numerous venues around Beijing week after week, helping Great Buffalo Blues build a steady following that loves to be blown away by their passionate playing. Check out our prior interview with them here.
One of Beijing's most prolific troubadours, with 40 records to his name, Djang San is also well regarded for his creative approach to traditional Chinese music, building electric variations on time-honored instruments like the pipa and the zhongruan. His burger fest sets will be rounded out by Philippe Mège on bass and Hugo Radyn on drums. Check out our recent interview with him here.
This high school garage rock group incorporates blues scales and classical sonatas to give their original songs a creative, well-rounded quality.
These rock and pop up-and-comers love to hit audiences with fun, energetic sets. Though they're the new kids on the block, they've already built up an impressive CV of prior gigs including sets at Beijing Art and Design Week and Aidi’s Forbidden City Summer Concert.
During a trip to Thailand for a music competition, this crew of energetic, pop, and metal inclined rockers came across a beautiful amber tree, and have been playing under that name ever since.
