One of the very biggest names in EDM will touch down at One Third this Thursday to crank out one crowd pleaser after another. Yes, Deadmau5's music is accessible and widely successful, meaning this set is sure to be chock-a-block with enthralled fans. Aside from the dance-inducing melodies that the Canadian start DJ and producer will be relaying form the booth, his set is sure to be a visual treat as well, thanks to his elaborate stage setups and the glowing, otherworldly mouse helmets he dons for his performances. Vinai
This hugely popular Italian DJ duo hit the #32 spot on DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs last year. Though their sound is firmly rooted in the EDM genre, the pair of producers also incorporates house and future bass rhythms in many of their songs, giving their style a unique mix that fans have dubbed "big room bounce music." Underground Movement 1rst Anniversary "Dance for Charity"
Lantern regulars like Yang Bing and Mickey Zhang hit up the main room this Friday, while the bar room will feature sets by Juliana Lima, Aida, Eva Xu, and others, for a night of techno and dancing all in the name of raising funds for Angel Home orphanage. RMB 50. 10.30pm. Lantern
Rezz
If Deadmau5's Thursday night set leaves you hankering for more, then catch this set by his label signee and fellow Canuck, Rezz. The rising DJ and producer, born Isabelle Rezazadeh, dabbles in electronic body music (EBM), new beat, techno, and dubstep for an eclectic mix that'll have attendees of all stripes dancing in no time. Vaporwave Silent Disco Vol. 3
Strap on some headphones and get in on the silent disco fun at Fruityspace this Friday with the third edition of Vaporwave's silent disco series.This time around, the soundtrack comes courtesy of beats producer X4M, EDM producer Senders Chen, and dance DJ Joy Ginger (the latter of whom we interviewed a few months back when he released his Love Is Illusion EP). Organic Presents San Soda
Are you a fan of Chicago and Detroit-style house and techno? How about cheerful disco, enchanting Afro or timeless electro cuts? Then San Soda will have you up out of your seat and on the dancefloor quicker than you can say "drop the needle!" Regarded as a "true collector" of vinyl, San Soda has honed his crate-digging prowess through years of record shop visits around the globe. Price TBA. 10pm. Dada
DB Dancehall Soundsystem Party Vol. 2
Dubbing itself as China's first label dedicated to reggae and dancehall, DB Bros Records is bringing some of its top signees and some must-see foreign talent to Aurora for a night of sweltering hot riddims. Local vet MC Webber (who has been producing for a decade and rapping for twice as long) will be on hand to keep the party going, alongside funk producer Raddam Ras. Outside the DB Bros lineup, international talent like Zambian dancehall performer Rawhx van Marley, and French reggae singer General Huge will also step up to the mic. RMB 80, RMB 60 (advance). 10pm. Marty Baller (A$AP Mob)
Poised to become the next big thing in the hip-hop world, thanks to his collaborations with Lil Uzi Vert, Rich The Kid and Migos, Marty Baller will wow hip-hop fans with this set at burgeoning Gongti club West. As a member of star MC A$AP Rocky's crew, Baller is certainly gaining plenty of buzz as of late. Despite having yet to earn his own A$AP moniker, it likely won't take long for him to be officially embraced by the clique, seeing as A$AP Ferg has been singing Baller's praises and recruited him to be his hype man. Dark0
If he's good enough for widely heralded record label XL, then he's good enough for a blowout gig at Dada, right? Yes, expectations are high for UK DJ Dark0's set, not only because of his label pedigree but also because his well-regarded audio/visual sets, which incorporate projected snippets from video games that seamlessly complement the atmospheric, cinematic tone of his music.
