This Friday: Give Blood at Beijing United Family Hospital

Are you a healthy 18- to 55-year-old who hasn't donated blood in the past six months? Then we want your blood! As long as you're a woman who weighs more than 45kg or a man who weighs more than 55kg, you should have plenty of blood to spare for someone in need.

On Friday, Mar 9 from 10am-3pm, Beijing United Family Hospital will be holding a blood drive for all of you out there who have healthy blood to spare and want to add some goodwill to the universe. Simply head to the third floor of Building 2 at BJU's main hospital in Lido (2 Jiangtai Lu) and let our patient and experienced nurses do the rest.

To find the right spot, go through the lobby of Building 2 (the main building), head toward the café to the left of the reception (behind the pharmacy), and take the elevator up to the third floor. There is a waiting room just as you exit the elevator on the third floor, and this is where the donations will take place. Donating costs you only 200ml of blood (about 5 percent of your total blood supply) and could save a life.

General criteria for blood donors:
1. Be between 18 and 55 years old
2. Have not donated blood within the last six months
3. Weigh over 45kg (women) or 55kg (men)

Please keep in mind:
The day before you donate, please try to eat light and healthy food in order to avoid excessive fat buildup in your blood, which may result in disqualification for donation. Remember to bring your official photo ID or passport.

For future blood drive dates, please see the poster below:

Since 2002, BJU has held around 70 blood drives, collecting more than 450,000ml of blood from donors hailing from dozens of countries. We've even collected a large amount of Rh-negative blood, which is rare in China but much more common in the rest of the world.
