EAT: Miss Muesli Takes a Break, Root Pop to Bring Vegan Burgers to Shuangjing, The Beijinger 2017 Burger Cup

We're sad to start this blog off on a gloomy note but Miss Muesli has announced that they're taking a bit of a break this summer. You'll be wise to stock up on all your favorite mueslies by this Thursday so that you can continue to start your day right, even during the hiatus. In their own words:

"As you may have noticed, Miss Muesli always works hard on improvement, so she had been setting some smart plans for a bit of touch-ups aside. But while being busy means well for business, it's getting tricky to focus on her own list of ideas. Without focus, it's hard to do things right and even the best of superwomen cannot live without a bit of time-out for herself. So, please be patient and in turn, expect Miss Muesli to make an even bigger comeback!"

Miss Muesli will thankfully be back, and revamped with better design, improved recipes, and an expanded team. If you have any feedback for them, you can fill in their survey found here.

Patience is key in Beijing, with many a new project heading our way every summer. This summer is no different, as we eagerly await the opening of Root Pop in Shuangjing, a new restaurant started by from Brandon Trowbridge of Glo Kitchen. Root Pop will specialize in vegan burgers and milkshakes, as well as vegan hot dogs, sandwiches, salads, and sides. The second story will house a bar and a smaller snack-type selection in the evenings. The restaurant should open its doors towards the end of the month, but if you're unable to wait, get a first taste at our Burger Cup this coming weekend.

Yes, if you didn't already know, we here at the Beijinger are in full throttle, gearing up for our annual Burger Cup, Beijing's primo event for giving you insight into our city's burger landscape. Head to Galaxy Soho on May 20 and/or May 21 between 11am and 8pm to enjoy lots of burgers, drinks, and entertainment at this year's Wild West-themed festival.

For more information about the Burger Cup, see full coverage here, including some tips on how to dress up, and click here for advance tickets.
