EAT: Opera Bombana New Lunch, Michelin-Starred Chef at TRB Bites, Oyster Galore at Pangu 7 Star Hotel
With spring breaking, it's time to head out of the office for lunch and treat yourself. That's the theme of this week's EAT: treats, luxury, and delicious food.
There is no place to better indulge than at Opera Bombana, one of the best Italian restaurants in town, where a new set lunch has taken shape with seasonal ingredients for those serious about treating themselves, or for those looking to impress their business acquiantances.
The set offers three appetizers, three mains, and a choice of two desserts. We went with the asparagus soup (pictured above), which was creamy and was served with a perfectly runny egg. Other options are a wagyu beef tenderloin carpaccio or a marinated Japanese yellow snapper. The main is a choice between an artisanal pasta with cheese and artichokes (pictured at the top), a wagyu beef tenderloin or roasted turbot fish. In need of comfort food, we went with the pasta and it did not disappoint. The artichokes were roasted but not to the point of losing their crunch, maintaining a nice smoky flavor. Our only qualm would be that there weren't enough.

The costs RMB 298 which is not high considering it includes a glass of wine (red, white, or sparkling), as well as a coffee or tea with petit four.
Another menu we're excited about is TRB Bites' selection by Chef Damiano Nigro, a one star Michelin chef from the Italian hills of Barolo, who will be putting together an exclusive menu between March 8 and 12 for both lunch (RMB 480 per person plus 10 percent tax) and dinner (RMB 680 per person plus 10 percent tax).
Nigro's cooking balances traditional and modern culinary flavors, mixing Piedmontese culinary tradition (known mostly for its abundance of antipasti) with the plain flavors of his hometown. Be sure to book ahead.
And finally, if riding in style is the way you like your foodie excursions, Pangu Seven Star Hotel Beijing is offering an oyster feast (buffet style) with French oysters at RMB 428 (plus 15 percent service charge) per person. Depending on how many oysters you want to eat, you could certainly make this worth your while. The promotion is ongoing until April 15.
