Tiki God Daniele Dalla Pola, Serves Up Tropical Cocktail Fire at Atmosphere this Week
From now until Saturday at Atmosphere atop China World Summit Wing) head over to see the mixology magic of Daniele Dalla Pola, who as a man looks like a funny hybrid between Super Mario and Captain Ron, but behind the bar has stunned cocktail aficionados around the world with his supreme tiki style and alcoholic mysticism. He will be taking over the bar as a part of Atmosphere's guest bartender series.
He’s been doing it big for a while now in Bologna, Italy and touring the globe spreading the gospel about tiki drinks and their wonderfully kitsch aesthetic. Pola was recently even included in the exclusive Bars to Watch 2015 list by the judges of The World’s 50 Best Bars. This self-professed connoisseur of exotic drinks was even awarded World Champion at the 42nd edition of the New Zealand Below Cocktail World Cup in 2011, for his masterpiece cocktail the Elisir D’Amore.
Some of the drinks he will be featuring include the Planter Punch, a tiki staple that consists of a citrusy mix of juices, rums, and spices, the El Ticklero, which is a margarita variation he invented, and The Scorpion, a classic gem of Trader Vic’s fame.
Check out this recipe where he discloses the secret of Don the Beachcomber’s (the founding father of tiki restaurants, bars, and nightclubs) dangerously delicious Daiquiri.
We love this recent emergence of tiki love in Beijing, but we never expected it to get so huge. Big props to bars like Bungalow Tiki & Cocktail Bar and Más for inciting and promoting this brand of tropical-themed madness. Go here for more details and info on how to make reservations.
