Show Some Skin, Work Up a Sweat at Sunday Morning's Naked Pig Run
The warm weather's almost here and people are beginning to think about how they'll look in a swimsuit this summer. How about showing some flesh early this season by stripping down to join Beijing's annual "Naked Pig Run", slated for Sunday, Feb. 28, at Olympic Park.
Founded in 2012, the 5k run is meant to encourage healthy living and bring Beijingers closer to nature. The result: 300 runners or so wearing little more than their skivvies to pound the pavement.
While not exactly naked, runners are requested to only wear one item of clothing (for men) and two items (for women). While many run in swimsuits, over the years cosplay has made its way into the wardrobes of some runnerS, with participants donning superhero masks or body paint, all the while still flashing plenty of flesh.
If your bod is not exactly beachworthy yet, use Sunday to start your preparation for a future run, such as Boom's Great Wall 5k Run. Slated for May 13, the run goes along Simatai, and features ongoing DJ sets and dance parties to make it a weekend-long festival.
For more information on the Pig Run, click here (Chinese only). Runners gather at 9am at the south gate of Olympic Park (take Line 8 subway). The 5k run begins at 9.30am.
Details about the Great Wall Run can be found here. It will be held from May 13-15.
