Afternoon Tea with Attitude: MasterChef Australia's Anna Polyviou Brings Sweet Treats to China World Summit
It's not every day that an award-winning celebrity chefs come to Beijing, and especially not everyday that you can go and try their creations on the 80th floor of a hotel.
Chef Anna Polyviou, known from MasterChef Australia and currently the Shangri-La Hotel in Sydney's 'Punk Princess of Pastry,' mainly aims to create food with a fun twist and a desire to invigorate afternoon tea and help rid it of its perceived outdatedness, especially in hotels.
One of our favorites were the traditional buttermilk scones, with raisins soaked in tea, served with clotted creme and jam.
The afternoon tea set includes both sweet and savory delights, all accented by creative flourishes and meticulous attention to detail. Most well-known is her carrot cake, which brought her fame in Australia (and among everyone else that watched MasterChef Australia).
Polyviou will be at The Lounge at the China World Summit Wing until December 11, 2-6pm. Each set is priced at RMB 238 plus 15 percent service charge.
