Kipp's Picks: Lucki Eck$, DMX Krew, Kung Fu, and 8-Bit Anniversary
Great things in store for club sophisticates and party savages alike as a raucous melee of music and drinking descends on Beijing once again to fill your mind and body with the fruits of jubilant leisure.
Dec 3: Trap Don x Hypertrash presents: Lucki Eck$
Lucki Eck$ is a 19-year-old rapper from Chicago, who gained a lot of buzz from his debut mixtape Alternative Trap featured on Noisey, Pitchfork, and Fader. His wavy brand of in a cloud rap is reminiscent of something in between Yung Lean and ASAP Rocky, and is a key figure who is pushing modern rap into a spacier, weirder, and at times a more self-loathing territory. RMB 50. 10pm. Dada
Dec 4: Antidote presents: DMX Krew
One of the funkiest electronic music wizards known to man is teleporting himself to China with a deep arsenal of synths and drum machines to get the music-loving public on their good foot to do some deliciously bad things on the dance floor. He comes from a time when electronic music meant laboriously imputing midi notes one by one into mysterious Japanese produced boxes called sequencers. While times and gear have changed the sounds coming from this legend are funkier than ever. RMB 80. 10pm. Dada
Dec 4: Kung Fu
Some of Beijing’s most active and may we say self-promoting (hehe) DJs get together to show off their hard and soft DJ styles. Throughout the course of a single evening, six DJs from Pop City Inc., Dim Sum Disco, and Funk Fever will be playing some deep 80s, disco, and funk, that’s guaranteed to get your qi vibing in all the right directions. While we hope there won’t be any blood feuds after tonight, we expect a crazy party atmosphere that you would never find at a traditional kung fu monastery. RMB 40. 10pm. Migas
Dec 4-5: 8-BIT’s 2nd Birthday Weekend
We recently declared 8-Bit to be the best venue in the city for video gaming. We stand by this declaration and hope that you agree enough to join them as they celebrate their second year of existence with a two-day blowout filled with video game tourneys, DJs, drink specials, and (say what!!!) drunk karaoke. They are certainly in a generous mood with 600ml Kirins for RMB 15, all of 8-Bit’s signature cocktails for RMB 30, pickle backs for RMB 25, and mulled wine for RMB 30. Free. 6pm. 8-Bit
