Kipp's Picks: U-Brown, The Field, Roberto Traista, and Dark Side of the Pie

A veritable smorgasbord of nightlife events for you children of the night to experience this week. A little bit of everything for everyone. Get out there and don’t forget to Never Rage Alone.

Oct 15: Jamaica Reggae Legend U-Brown
Make sre to start your weekend early and give this reggae legend a warm Beijing welcome. Beginning his career in the early 70s, this essential Jamaican DJ has finally found his way to the concrete jungles of the Far East to dub out some heads with echoed out dancehall jams from yesterday and today. The night will also feature Raddam Ras, Spress, and Blood Dunza. Don’t miss out on true musical greatness up close and personal. RMB 60. 9pm. Temple Bar

Oct 16: Wooozy Offline: The Field & Barker
Get over to Dada on Friday for a unique bash of live electronica brought to you by the amazing people at Wooozy Offline. The Field is Swedish electronic producer and DJ and ambient techno mastermind Axel Willner. Joining him is the British musician and Wooozy Offline’s old friend Sam Barker and Beijing’s own iimmune. This will be a top-notch evening of unmissable electronic music. RMB 80. 10pm. Dada

Oct 17: Roberto Traista
Coming from the land of vampires and Microkorg worship comes Romanian born Roberto Traista. Since 2006 he has been building up a superb discography of techno grooves that will make you thrash the dance floor in a cool post industrial formation. Maybe he will even take his shirt off (his promo pics feature some pretty chiseled abs). Roberto will joined by a couple of Beijing’s best including, DJ Pei, and Donald Summer. Free. 10pm. Dada

Oct 17: Dark Side of the Pie
So you’re telling us there’ll be pies, delicious cocktails, and “Dark Side of the Rainbow?” If you are unfamiliar, this is when you try to match up Pink Floyd’s classic Dark Side of the Moon LP with The Wizard of Oz. No matter how many times we experience this right of passage, we can’t help but be conquered by its majestic (yet accidental) synchronization. With the addition of pie, we can only imagine the consequences.
Free. 5pm. 8-Bit
