Residence Permit Processing Time Decreases, High-Level Staff Eligible for Longer Residence Permits

Once again, the Beijing Entry and Exit Bureau has changed its regulations with regards to foreign workers' residence permit processing time and validity time, China News reports.

Starting from August 1, all residence permits will be processed within 10 working days as opposed to the previous 15 working days, and high level foreign employees will be able to receive residence permits valid for two to five years, as opposed to just one.

Although this won't change much for most of us in terms of validity of our residence permits, changes like this provide a glimmer of hope that it will become increasingly easier for all foreigners to work in China in the future.

The Entry and Exit Bureau also reminds foreigners to apply for an extension of their residence permit 30 days before it expires so as to avoid problems.
