Capital M Celebrates World Environment Day with Limited Edition Menu
June 5 marks World Environment Day, a United Nations Project designed to galvanize worldwide awareness and action for the environment. The project emphasizes the role of individual action in making a difference to the world around us.
In the words of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon: "Although individual decisions may seem small in the face of global threats and trends, when billions of people join forces in common purpose, we can make a tremendous difference."
As a restaurant that has long supported local and international environmental causes, Capital M is doing its part this World Environment Day, by encouraging people to eat vegetarian.
For three nights only, from June 4-6, it will be serving a special five course vegetarian menu, crafted from the best local and seasonal produce.
For RMB 428, start with a dish of chilled almond soup, before moving onto courses filled with fresh organic veggies, and ending with a selection of fresh fruit sorbets, made from melon, nectarines, and mangosteens (for full menu details, see the event listing).
Stop by before dinner on Saturday evening to catch their World Environment Day Discussion Panel, "Earth, Wind, and Fire: Our Soil, Air, and Food, and What You Can Do" featuring Even Pay of Smart Agriculture Analytics, who will discuss the new metrics of agriculture; Mina Guli, who will discuss water and education; and Shi Yan of Shared Harvest, who will talk about community farming and the organic movement. Brett Rierson of the World Food Programme will moderate.
