Dec 8-30: Modernista Closed for Expansion, New Terrace
Modernista, your one-stop-shop for all things clarinets, trilbies, and absinthe is closed for expansion from today with the hope of reopening with a bang on New Year's Eve.
Speaking to Aida Junusova, co-owner of the bar, the Beijinger can confirm that the building next door is being integrated to the current setup, creating a new downstairs space large enough for projected film screenings as well as a continuation of the usual live events on new, bigger stage.
Absinthe enthusiasts and alcoholics alike will rejoice at the news that the upstairs will hold a bar dedicated purely to the green stuff. The 40+ varieties will remain and new absinthe fountains shall be installed, threatening to bring death to mankind as we know it. There will also be a terrace in preparation for the distant summer months.
The renovation comes just over a year after Modernista expanded to a second floor in September of last year.
FYI, the organic market held on Sundays has moved to the Culture Yard during Modernista's closure.
