32 Pizza Purveyors Get the Axe at Midnight Tonight

At midnight tonight, our field of 64 contestants gets cut to 32 – don't let your favorite spot get the axe.

Yes the first round of the 2014 Pizza Cup ends this evening (Wednesday, Oct 28), and tomorrow we announce who made it through the saucy first round to compete in the next, where the competition gets heavy.

Six days into voting, almost all races in the first round are wide open for the grabbing ... in fact in several of the epic battles, vote differences are in the single digits, percentage wise.

Imagine your shame if you were too lazy to cast your one stinkin' ballot and your local fave goes down in flames in the first round. How will you ever face the sad faces of their dejected servers and delivery boys again?

The closing of the first round is not, by the way, your warning bell for stopping the orgy of consumption we fully expect you to take part in over the next month as you evaluate who serves the best pizza in Beijing.

We've got a list of great ongoing pizza promotions here (and you can always find more food promotions in our events here); a list of where to get your pizza delivered here; and even where to score a slice if you live in the "Where There Be Dragons" portions of Beijing like Wudaokou or Shunyi).

For you true pizza nerds, you can strain our server load by downloading your wall-sized poster of the 2014 Pizza Cup for plastering over your Zhang Ziyi pinup at home in your flat below:

Meanwhile, if you've grown weary of the standard Margherita or Pepperoni combos of your local fave, why not expand your horizons with a slice of Pig Ear Pizza, Pizza-in-a-Cone, Bulgogi or perhaps a Kung Pao Chicken pizza? Beijing's got it all and more.
