Zhang Jingchu Joins Cast for Mission Impossible 5

The Guardian has reported that Zhang Jingchu, star of such films as Rush Hour 3, Aftershock, and Tsui Hark's Seven Swords, will take on the leading role opposite Tom Cruise in the fifth installment of the Mission Impossible saga. Can we call it a saga? The series has come a long way since its initial Brian De Palma directed debut, and now like many Hollywood blockbusters must conform to the trend of hiring out mainland starlets to gain favor in China's explosive film market. 

The latest edition, which is set for release on Christmas Day 2015, will feature further action-packed wanderings of Ethan Hunt directed by Jack Reacher's Christopher McQuarrie. Cruise will be supported by Jeremy Renner, Ving Rhames, and Simon Pegg for the necessary comedic relief between the expected bullet dodging and Krav Maga bone crushing mayhem.
