SUBS US Tour Kickstarter, Second Hand Rose Interview, Split Works' Fall Lineup

Beijing art punk legends SUBS are on their way to the US for their first cross country tour. Due to lack of financial backing they just opened up a Kickstarter campaign to help with things like flights & van/equipment rental.

Make sure to check them out if they end up in a city or music venue near you. SUBS aren't affiliated with any of those big Chinese music companies, masquerading as record labels and don't have anyone forking over the kind of cheddar needed for an international tour. I'm sure you can imagine the kind of financial strain such an undertaking might entail. So take a look and if a charitable wind moves you in the right direction donate some funds to this great band.

Another band about to hit the road in the US are Second Hand Rose. Check out this interview from China Music Radar, where Liang Long, the group's flamboyant frontman exasperates on the changing climate of Beijing's music scene and the intricacies of re-inventing rock 'n' roll for a Chinese audience.

Second Hand Rose’s first performance in the states will be at the inaugural Modern Sky Festival in New York's Central Park on October 5, followed by gigs in Boston, Washington DC, and Philadelphia. These guys have also set up a Pledge Music crowd funding campaign, that allows fans to donate money towards making their tour a tad more fabulous. Here you can donate, buy tickets, or nab up some tasty merchandise from their riveting Red & Green clothing line.

Finally, there’s been a lot of talk this week about Split Works. On top of well attended shows this week from TheeSatisfaction/We Are Wolves at DDC and Moonface at Yugong Yishan, there has been a little leak of their upcoming fall grouping of artists to gig in Beijing and Shanghai. Their tentative yet mostly unconfirmed lineup includes Wild Beasts, Lone, Bill Callahan, Le1f, and Dan Deacon. Stay tuned as venues and dates get nailed down.
