Community Matters: Voices for Fenni, a Fundraising Event at Zajia Lab
This Sunday on July 14, Zajia Lab will be holding a fundraising event for local musician and artist Fenni (Zheng Miao). Fenni has been an integral part of Beijing’s artistic community for many years but in the last couple of weeks her long term heart condition has worsened and she has since been admitted into intensive care. Healthcare is never cheap and Fenni’s condition has created a financial and mental strain that's getting in the way of her recovery.
To help with this terrible situation, Zajia is holding a street market and concert to help raise funds for Fenni’s hospital bills and medicine.
A representative from Zajia stated
“This will be a remarkable event, uniting all sections of Beijing's independent artistic communities behind a single issue. We see this as a worthy cause for all the artistic communities in China to rally around, initiating an on-going and productive dialogue amongst our various groups.”
The commerce will begin at 2pm and last till late on Sunday evening. It will feature artists, designers and many of Fennie's friends who will bring various objects for sale. Participants include Xiao He, Zuo Xiao Zuzhou, Mengqi, Megumi Shimizu, Yanzi (Zaban), Sun Shaokun, Lin Zenghui and many others ...
From 3–5pm, there will be musical performances inside Zajia Lab, featuring acts like Xiao Budian, Dongzi, Feng Hao and Wuquan, Layer, Yang Ye, Aporia, and Mat Holmes. Tickets for this performance will be RMB 80, with all proceeds from the street market and the performance go to Fenni's hospital bills and medicines.
