Community Matters: Volunteers Needed for Food Drive

Local charity Roundabout is teaming up with with grocery store chain Carrefour to supply Gansu Earthquake victims with non-perishable food for the winter. A food drive will be held on Saturday at the Carrefour Chuang Yi Jia store beside the Beijing Exhibition Center.

Organisers are calling for volunteers. Anybody interested in earning some Christmas karma points and getting on Santa's good list can help out at the drive by showing up any time between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. Donations of rice, noodles, oil and flour are also encouraged.

Roundabout has also initiated a "1 in a million" campaign this holiday season. They are hoping to have one million people donate RMB 1 each to go towards life-saving medical expenses for three sick children. If you can't make it to the food drive on Saturday, consider picking up one of the "1 in a million" fundraiser packs to help Roundbaout reach their goal and save lives. See the fundraiser website for details.
