Community Matters: Live Panda Footage to Coo at All Day

Forget Beijing Zoo, you can now watch cute pandas, live, anytime you’d like. The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding has installed 28 webcams in their panda pens with live footage streaming to the website ipanda.com 24 hours a day.

The site was first tested in June with a few video clips that proved very popular and is expected to be fully ready in August. Panda channels you can watch include: HD Selections, Adult Pandas, Panda Cubs, Young Pandas, Panda Nursery, Panda Villa and broadcasts from other zoos around the world. There are also videos that explain biological mysteries such as “How Many Fingers do Giant Pandas have?”

CNN reports that Weibo users are conflicted over the entertainment value of live panda footage with the following comments:

"I saw the rear view of a panda shaped like a glutinous rice dumpling. It was eating non-stop. The life of a panda is so happy,"

"It's boring. The pandas don't move.”

Have a look and decide for yourself, but try not to let the day pass too quickly as you coo at the sweet baby panda swinging in his crib.
