Instagram: The Men of Beijing Series
Self-described “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Gamer” Frank Yu (@FrankYu) came to Beijing in 2004 “for the duck” and “stayed for the chuan’r.” In addition to being co-founder and CEO of Kwestr , Beijing tech maven Frank is also an avid Instagrammer (follow him at mkultra00 – with two zeroes at the end) and co-organizer of the Instagramers Beijing group. See below for his latest collection of photos.
"Many people say that Beijing is a man's city while Shanghai is a woman's city. In some respects, that is true. It's hard to deny that Shanghai seems more fashion and design-oriented than the capital but there is an authentic style to how people dress in Beijing. For the men, most wear comfortable or practical clothes. It's not about what brand they wear, but how they wear it. You have the dandies in Sanlitun who peacock in the latest fashion trends from Japan and Korea. You have the family men of Gulou who wear the clothing of the hutongs that marks them as residents of the area. The metrosexual dressing style is cautiously gaining a foothold but Beijing still retains an old-school macho style of dress for the men. Clothes that fit in well for a dusty, grimy urban sprawl," Yu said of his latest photo series.
