Talking Pints: Great Wall Guetta Heads a Stellar DJ Cast

Have you managed to get along to the new Great Leap Brewpub yet? We did. Twice. It's great. Not long now before it opens fully. May 18 is the big date we've been hearing. There's something else happening on the 18th, too. Could be a mighty fine day.

What a weekend we've got ahead of us for big name international DJs. That Lionel bloke might not like the look (or taste) of our city, but even he couldn't argue that it attracts some massive names these days.

The Second Annual Beijing Craft Beer Festival will go ahead at the swanky new Galaxy SOHO on June 21 and 22. It's a good period for craft brewing with more and more microbreweries popping up around town – Jing A and Tipsy Face are set to hit the pumps soon at Big Smoke and Pass By Bar respectively, and now we've got the weather to enjoy them with. Could it be another summer of the craft tipple? And guess what else is helping at Galaxy SOHO? This, and it'll be great. Get your tickets now.

Karl Long from Paddy's Sanlitun (it seems like even he has given up on its original name) has been in touch to fill us in on a promotion they'll be running this weekend to mark the start of the summer.

"Two-for-one on all cocktails, mixed drinks and Beijing draft beer. We also have live music from a very good foreign three piece playing covers with a twist. And on Saturday night we have a DJ playing hits from the '90s".

Speaking of Saturday, the one they've all been waiting for is upon us: The Great Wall Music Festival kicks off from 2pm tomorrow (May 11). Seems like every man and his dog are off up to Jiuyongguan for the bash. And judging by the response to our ticket giveaway earlier this week, they're the hottest in town.

To the rest of the upcoming highlights:

Plenty more going on around town this weekend – check here for more details.

Until next time, have a great weekend.
