Living La Vida Local: Movie Quiz Night Rescheduled and Mexican Cooking Class
The bad news is, Migrant Children’s Foundation’s Great Big Movie Quiz Night didn’t take place on July 11 as originally planned. The good news is, it’s been rescheduled for July 18, which gives any interested participants even more time to prepare. More details on that below, as well as on Roundabout’s latest new location, a beginner digital photography workshop and a Mexican cooking class at the newly opened Q Mex.
MCF’s latest event at Caffe Camardo (in International Wonderland) has been postponed since their venue is currently undergoing renovations. For anyone confident about their movie knowledge, though, head on over this Wednesday on July 18 at 7pm. Each team is allowed 2-5 members, and the entrance fee is just RMB 40 (includes one free drink, plus great drink deals all evening). And, of course, all proceeds will go towards improving the quality of life for local migrant children.
Seems like Roundabout has trouble staying put, but so far details on their new location sound promising. They won’t be officially celebrating their opening till September 15, but for now, things seem to be up and running. Any donations you have can be dropped off at their new shop. Congratulations to them, and look out for updates on TheBeijinger.com come September.
Although Culture Yard has been hosting photography workshops for some time, The Hutong is bringing them some stiff competition. Those without SLR cameras can rejoice, for this weekend’s class (with Mitchell Masilun, the Beijinger’s very own in-house photographer) focuses on digital photography for beginners. Just come in and be prepared to learn all the functions your camera has to offer. The two-day class runs from 9.30am-5.30pm on both Saturday and Sunday. I’m sure you’ll come out snapping like a pro.
Finally, the much-raved-about and newly opened Q Mex is offering up a nice change from the usual cooking classes we see around town. This workshop’s focus is on Mexican food, taught by their very own executive chef Karla Castillo Reyes. If you’d like to attend, RSVP now at www.qmex.co.
