Capital Bites Extra: Carrefour Wine Fair, Discounts At Moment, Duck At Horizon

As promised, here's the second of this week's Capital Bites two-parter, with new openings, discounts and lunch deals in Sanlitun Soho, Peking duck at the Kerry Hotel and why you should plan to spend next weekend in a supermarket.

First, a reminder that Carrefour Shuangjing's latest wine fair gets underway with the traditionally huge opening ceremony at 6pm next Friday (Apr 20). These occasions are among the few times when it's excusable to begin your Friday night in a supermarket, with free tastings and lots of different types of wine. The fair runs from April 20-22 and there are 20 percent discounts on all wines throughout that period, with experts on hand to dish out advice.

Our favorite Sanlitun Soho sandwich stop, Moment Cafe, is giving something back by offering 15 percent discounts on all orders next Tuesday (Apr 17).

Also in Sanlitun Soho, Pakistani restaurant Khan Baba is finally open, or so we hear. And, lest we forget, Indian restaurant Khajuraho remains one to try - their RMB 38 business lunch is a very inexpensive way of trying out their offerings.

Bros Wasabi is a new robata-yaki restaurant at the Ruichen International Center on Nongzhanguan Nanlu. The closest we've got to it so far are these rather tempting photos on Dianping, but if it's as good as the ever-dependable Fish Mama we think it will be worth your attention.

Wine bar Maison Camus has just launched a new "tasting package." For RMB 390, you'll get a glass of French Chadonnay, one glass of Bordeaux red, a glass of Camus XO cognac, a portion of foie gras, a portion of brioche and a portion of dried fruits.

The Kerry Hotel's Horizon has just added Peking duck to their menu. If it's anywhere near as good as their dim sum, they're onto a winner.

Temple Restaurant Beijing launches its spring menu today, as well as extending opening hours to include a 6-10pm dinner service on Sundays. Email meet@temple-restaurant.com if you haven't tried them out yet. And Maison Boulud is also on the spring menu bus, with dishes featuring French white asparagus.
