Playlist: Modern Sky Boss Shen Lihui

Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” by Wham! That’s the first time I heard Western music. Even though I didn’t make it to their show in Beijing, they still changed my life.

Thriller” by Michael Jackson. The album is one of my favorites. It reminds me of the breakdance era in the ’80s.

Jumpin’ Jack Flash” by The Rolling Stones. It was around 1988 when I first heard of The Rolling Stones. I thought they sounded like my band Sober when we rehearsed. They influenced us a lot.

Girls & Boys” by Blur. Even though I started to like Radiohead more, Blur was still the symbol of ‘90s music style.

Part of the Potatoes in Town” (部分土豆进城) by Hu Mage. One of the first productions by Modern Sky. It reminds Beijing’s young hipsters that we live in a mixture of city and villages.

Shen Lihui is the founder and managing director of Modern Sky Records. The Modern Sky Festival takes place at Huabei International Ski Resort, Huairou District, from Oct 3-5. Click here for full details (Chinese-language only) and keep an eye on TheBeijinger.com for more news.
