Global Times' Cheap Shots

It's awards season in Beijing, and following on the heels of the Beijinger’s 2011 Reader Bar & Club Awards comes the Global Times with their own selection of Beijing’s best - or worst - in their 2011 Cheap Shot Awards.

First Floor (tbj's Overall Bar of the Year) has been bestowed the title of “Alcoholics Oblivious” where there are “Friendly, sweet waitresses who could be your sisters or (more likely) daughters. Easy credit from a barman who is more like your brother. The same familiar faces every day. You don't have a drinking problem - you are with family!?”

Paddy O’Shea’s gets a triple shout-out for “Least annoying rugby types,” “the Pink lung award,” and “Hardest toilet to reach because crowds are so thick award.”

Other awards include “Most pretentious audience asking purported questions that are actually just talking about themselves award” going to The Bookworm, “Most likely spot to see someone you want to avoid” for Apothecary, while sister bar Twilight receives “Least likely spot to see someone you want to avoid.”
