National Museum of China Reopens Today

After years of renovation, and a new statue in January, the National Museum reopened its doors today at 2pm. At the moment only the northern section will be accessible and admittance is limited to scheduled groups during the first two weeks.

As reported in Xinhua (in Chinese), from March 1st to the 16th, only group visits are allowed, and require 2 days reservation and letter of introduction for your group. After March 16th, all visitors can get tickets with valid identification and entrance will be free before 4pm. The museum will be open from 9am to 5pm, and closed on Monday.

According to the National Museum, there are two regular exhibitions on at the moment. One is “Ancient China”, and the other one is the “Road to Revival”. The exhibitions contain more than 1150 relics, representing almost 170 years since the Opium War.
