Haven for Fashion Nerds: I.T Beijing Market in the Village North

Standing four stories tall, this large, starkly decorated shop targets fashion nerds with slightly outré tastes and deep (albeit oddly placed and asymmetrical) pockets.

I.T Beijing Market houses mostly clothing, shoes and accessories by Comme des Garçons, the Japanese label adored by the fashion vanguard since the 1970s. The first to third floors stock various Comme des Garçons collections for both men and women, including the main lines, the iconic heart-laden PLAY collection, and the diffusion line BLACK. Look for rubber necklaces (RMB 3,350-3,450), not-so-basic leather jackets (RMB 8,400) and a vending machine of graphic tees (RMB 888.88).

A well-edited selection of items by edgy favorites such as Ann Demeulemeester, Maison Martin Margiela and Gareth Pugh sits primarily on the fourth floor but is also littered throughout the others.

The basement floor is dedicated to the Japanese streetwear label A Bathing Ape (BAPE).

Must buy: Comme des Garçons rubber necklace (RMB 3,350-3,450)
Also try: Shine*, Even Penniless
