Electro Shock: Housemeister at The Star Live on Saturday
German electro star Boys Noize’s show at The Star Live in October was one of 2010’s highlights. This month, it’s labelmate Housemeister who’s on the way. He plays the same venue this Saturday night along with Boysnoize Records labelmate Djedotronic in the latest party from promoters The M Agency. We spoke to Housemeister as he got ready to electrofy Beijing.
Did Boys Noize give you any tips about Beijing?
He gave me a red Beijing jacket as a birthday present. I wear it all the time.
WikiLeaks. Discuss.
I like WikiLeaks. They just tell the truth and f*&k the liars who just suck the small people. I’m curious about the documents about the American banks that will be released this month, but I think they’ll kill the WikiLeaks owner before then. They’ll say “Oh, what a crazy coincidence – he died in a car accident."
What might WikiLeaks have on you?
There’s a secret album coming in May 2011 from a guy called Housemeister. The CIA is already following him, but they can’t catch him as he is too fast and too clever. Another piece of top secret information is that Boys Noize and Housemeister have done a record together which will be released in Febuary 2011 on Boysnoize Records.
Do you play any musical instruments?
I play drum machines and synthesizer. I tried to learn piano three times, took lessons with different teachers, but I didn’t practice enough. I have a hundred-year-old piano, made in Berlin, at home, but it’s really hard to learn. Sometimes I think, “Why didn’t anybody teach me that when I was younger?” I like the piano.
If your music were the soundtrack to an imaginary movie, what would that movie be like?
1960s science fiction. Something with time machines.
Finally, who would play you in the film of your life?
The Brain from Pinky and the Brain. Or maybe Pinky.
Housemeister plays The Star Live on Jan 15. RMB 150, RMB 100 (advance)
