Wine O' The Times: Dao Le Lands in Shuangjing

Intended as “your imaginary living room,” this sharp wine bar and cafe is another little step forward for Shuangjing’s miniature bar scene.

The wine selection is overseen by former Maison Boulud sommelier James Liu, with reds and whites by the bottle from RMB 126. The wine list will appeal both to experts and amateurs, with thoughtful pairing suggestions and detailed tasting notes – Liu is on hand to offer personalized advice if you’re stuck.

True aficionados can store their own glasses and bottles at the bar. There are also eight wines by the glass (RMB 38-60), including sparkling wine and rosé. Alternatively, embark on a three-pour wine flight for RMB 70.

These days, no wine bar is complete without a menu of tapas, cold cuts and cheese; to complement the ambrosial vintages, order Dao Le’s cheese and fruit jams platter (RMB 74), dip into the Swiss fondue (RMB 98), or sample the dessert selection, conjured up by Comptoirs de France. We’ll be back for food and drinks on the patio soon.

Good for: Shuangjingers, oenophiles
