A Soft, Chewy Heart: Moss Coffee & Bagels Opens in Chaowai Soho
New Yorkers can get sentimental about bagels. I’ve never seen anyone else hurl an imposturous bread item across a room while yelling “This is not a bagel.” Kudos to Moss for what I would call the real deal, with their glorious tough exterior shielding a soft, chewy heart.
The huge wooden counter stocks plain, whole wheat, blueberry and more (RMB 8-10). Bagel sandwiches (RMB 20-28) include smoked salmon omelette and feta cheese (with cucumber and pine nuts). The free Wi-Fi and big mugs of coffee are a bonus, and as for those little cinnamon raisin circles of goodness: I’ll be back for you.
