the Beijinger - June 2011: The 2011 Reader Bar & Club Awards

You might already know all the results of our 2011 Reader Bar & Club Awards, but we've put them together to present them with a bit of extra flair in our June issue's cover feature - take a look at the cover image for just a hint of what to expect.

Besides the Reader Bar & Club Awards, we've got an issue jam-packed with all the news and events you need to get you through the month ahead. In this month's Ecology feature, we investigate the environmental impact of our thirst for alcohol, and look at some of the people offering greener alternatives to traditional modes of alcohol production. In Dining, we visit some of Beijing's best party restaurants, put orange juices to the Taste Test, and quiz top chef Claudio Sadler on the meaning of the Michelin star. In Explore, there's a less-than-thrilling trip down the Three Gorges, while in Living, Bob Louison teaches us a thing or two about making cocktails. In Music, we talk to Pet Conspiracy and Hanggai, and we've also got interviews with the likes of designer Kathrin von Rechenberg and writer Rachel deWoskin. We even ducked down the alleyways of Bar Street for a head-to-head with "the Frog Man of Sanlitun" - now if that doesn't raise a smile, nothing will.

And if that wasn't enough, inside the magazine (or in those handy PDFs below if you prefer), you'll also find the usual mix of the best events, new bars, restaurants and shops plus all of your old favorites like Ich Bin Ein Beijinger plus the chance to win even more things then before.
