Frankly I'd rather have bamboo shoots stuck under my fingernails than be forced to shop at Carrefour, every location of which is perpetually mobbed and features a rather crummy selection of just about one of everything you'd never actually want.
Particularly irritating is the produce department, where the line to have your produce weighed has all the politeness and charm of a Mixed Martial Arts match. And why is there the constant irritation of having all the scales marked out in grams when the prices are marked as "jin" so that the displayed price is never what you actually think it's supposed to be?
As if the shopping experience could not get any more unpleasant, they have several employees within earshot of one another whose only duty is to out-scream the person beside them in an attempt to make sure as many people as possible hear of the amazing deal that they are having on sea slug intestines or whatever.

Re: Prefer having bamboo shoots stuck under my fingernails
If you can somehow manage a trip on a weekday morning the crowds are not too bad.
The people roaring are the same though (often with megaphones).
I don't get this, if I want milk I'll buy it. And whatever deal is on can't be important enough to make me avoid that whole section, which I often will.
They have some of these ladies in the Viva plaza mall also, near the dairy section. Last time I went there I picked up a block up cheese, one of them runs up to me and literally barks "It's cheese!!"
Yes, we actually have cheese on my home-world of Waiguotopia.
