US-China Forum on the Arts and Culture Opening Ceremony and Press Conference
Thursday, November 17 US Ambassador to China Gary Locke helped raise the curtain on the US-China Forum on the Arts and Culture at the NCPA on November 17. Ambassador Locke was one of several speakers at the opening ceremony for the three-day event, which kicked off with a press reception and dinner at the US Embassy on Wednesday, November 16. The event was also attended by participating visiting academics, artists, musicians and journalists. Before getting down to a program of panel discussions, film screenings, Q+As and performances, star guests including Joel Cohen, Amy Tan, Yo-Yo Ma, Jonathan Spence, Alice Waters, Charles "Lil Buck" Riley, Damian Woetzel, David Fanning, Eric Fischl, Judith Belzer, Mark Danner, Melissa Chiu, Michael Pollan, Orville Schell and Susan Meiselas also took part in a press conference and Q+A session with the press.
