Accommodation Registration - When to Re-register

Hi all,

I'm currently living in a Beijing apartment and I was wondering if anyone knew when you have to re-do your 'dengji' or accommodation registration with the local police station. Is it when you get a new visa, when you sign a new contract with the landlord or when your previous dengji (registration) expires?

Thanks!

Olivia

Re: Accommodation Registration - When to Re-register

I'd say when you sign a new contract and when your previous registration expires.
Getting a new visa shouldn't change anything (it didn't for me), although if you got a new visa because your previous one expired, then it is very likely that your registration also expired.

Thanks DaPonti!

Re: Accommodation Registration - When to Re-register

ip.. your registration expires usually with the end of the rental contract or the expiration of your visa. when either happens, you have to go back and register.

Also, you need to go in when you get a new visa.

Re: Accommodation Registration - When to Re-register

It depends on what type of visa you are on.

If on a Z or X, you register only when you change residences or get an extension of your residence permit.

If on an L or an F, you register the same as above plus whenever you leave the city and return.

Re: Accommodation Registration - When to Re-register

If you have a Z visa ,and the visa expires ,it needs you immediately to go to local police station to renew you temporary residence registration after renew of your visa.

Also ,if you move to a new place and sign a new contract,it also needs you get a new residence registration after your update of the living address on your working permit.
