Beijing’s longest running bass crew, The Syndicate, turn a whopping 14 this November and they have something special planned to ring another year into the books at the Mecca of Beijing bass music, Dada. You might have noticed that Syndicate basically digs two kinds of music: 1) straight-up, triple-refined d’n’b, 2) weird ass bass music that defies categorisation. What you probably haven’t noticed is that pretty much every single artist we bring has had some kind of association with one particular label: Critical Recordings. So, for November, we thought… why not go straight to the source?
Critical Recordings bossman KASRA is all set to grace DADA’s hallowed DJ booth. Not only a globally renowned producer and DJ himself, but a true visionary in the continual evolution of bass music, Kasra’s knack for balancing constant innovation with old-school drum ‘n’ bass pedigree has made Critical into a launchpad and home base for the careers of Syndicate favourites like Sam Binga, Ivy Lab, Hyroglifics, Mefjus, Alix Perez, SpectraSoul, Phace, Enei and many, many more.
Drawing from this badman stable of artists as well as his own productions and beyond, Kasra’s DJ sets are as heavy as they are eclectic. From sweaty sold-out Critical warehouse parties in London, to full-on, high-octane peak time sets at EDC, he is a man with a wide range of dubplates in his bag.
