What is Spittoon?

Spittoon is a Beijing-based arts collective that does events and programming throughout China and publishes a literary magazine and a comic book, all with the goal of bringing together Chinese and foreign writers, artists, and literary enthusiasts. We have recently started an events base in Gothenburg, Sweden with monthly events and projects that seek to strengthen Spittoon’s growing international community.

Throughout the month of September last year, Spittoon embarked on our first China national tour - visiting 4 destinations, Beijing, Chengdu, Suzhou and Shanghai. We learned a huge amount about Spittoon's pssibilities and our own capabilities as we explored each destination  to try to bring out the unique strengths inherent in all of them.

Spittoon projects, like our music / poetry collaboration project: Spittunes and elements of our regular monthly programming (Poetry, Fiction, Slam), all combined together with our publication, the Spittoon Literary Magazine, to create a complete canvas of everything we try to produce and acheive.

What's more... we filmed all of it.

In a 22 minute feature filmed during that time, at all our events and culminating in the Beijing leg of our tour, we got it all on tape. It's called:
