Widely recognised as a world authority on North Korean art and film, Nicholas Bonner will present another of his fascinating and insightful presentations on North Korean film-making and the film industry, at POP-UP BEIJING on Monday 27 November, 7.30pm, FREE.
Nicholas Bonner has been making documentaries, travel shows and even a full-length feature film in North Korea, since 1996. Last month, Phaidon Press also published his stunningly beautiful book on the development of graphic art in North Korea: ‘Made in North Korea – Graphics From Everyday Life in The DPRK,’ which has already hit Phaidon’s best-seller list!
On the night, Nicholas will give an illustrated talk on the filmmaking industry in North Korea, while also sharing his own rich experiences and anecdotes. He has also agreed to show never-before-seen photographs and clips from behind-the-scenes during the making of his documentaries and brilliant feature film “Comrade Kim goes Flying.” Nicholas will also introduce the commissioned hand-painted original North Korean posters related to the film industry which are currently on show in the West Wing of POP-UP BEIJING, along with the stories behind each work.
