The Georg is one of the most talked about, high end restaurants in Beijing right now. Designed by Georg Jensen, the Danish silverware designer, this upmarket, stylish Scandinavian gem is found on the DongBuYaQiao Hutong. With the demand for Nordic food on the way up, The Georg portrays a classic yet modern take on Danish food which is truly unique. All reviews found online tell us that you will be mind-blown with the elegance, the simplicity, and the style that The Georg has set up in this renovated hutong courtyard. Having tried the food for ourselves, with Scandinavian blood running through the Moka Bros team, we can vouch that The Georg is in fact, insane. We're totally stoked to be inviting them to set up for the day at Moka Bros CBD!
Danish pop-up? Why?
According to the World Happiness Report, the Scandinavian nation that is Denmark has been rated the happiest country, and has been in the top 3 ever since the survey began. The combination of a long and healthy life expectancy, freedom to make your own choices and a noticeably higher level of generosity and trust than other countries, makes this fact about the colourful country, Denmark unsurprising. Not sure about you, but we’re thinking of packing up our things and eloping to Denmark immediately.
With the soft, neutral tones that the Danish language uses, you’ll find it hard to come across an angry Dane. You can see this same calm attribute throughout their entire culture; from the way they speak with each other to the way they host a dinner party. Denmark has also worked hard to make their professional culture totally equal across genders; equal pay and equal opportunity to access senior positions, another reason why we’re considering moving instantly!
The traditional Danish cuisine that has represented their country for decades, is the open top sandwich; smørrebrød (English pronunciation: smore-broad). Conventionally, this Danish special is a buttered slice of dark rye bread topped with home-reared cold cuts, pieces of meat or fish, cheese or spreads. Right, so when’s our flight?
Unfortunately, the team at Moka Bros are actually unable to flee to Denmark as we need to stay and feed all you guys. So, instead, we’re teaming up with The Georg and going to bring the gorgeous culture of Denmark and some of that delicious smørrebrød to Moka Bros, CBD!
*** Danish delights will be offered at Moka Bros, CBD, from 11am on the 11th November and will be served until all of it's gone! ***
