A Showcase of Music from the label Livity Sound

Peverelist and Kowton form the backbone of Livity Sound, one of the most forward-thinking labels coming out of the UK in the last few years.  The label (which takes its name from a Rastafarian word meaning, roughly, “life-force”) pushes forth a form of dance music that builds on a long tradition of pioneering Dub music in Bristol, while establishing itself as one of the finest examples of Bass music's recent embracement of House and Techno. 

Peverelist, aka Tom Ford, has been a big player in Bristol’s music scene for many years, having been a crucial figure in the early Dubstep scene, while Kowton, aka Joe Cowton, also developed his sound in Bristol, but with more influence from Grime, House and Techno.  Along with the artist Asusu, they formed Livity Sound in 2011 and over the last five years have developed a devoted following with their sound that is at once Techno, but at the same time challenges many of the contemporary conventions of the genre.
